| From: David Bangs Sent: Monday, September 09, 2002 10:35 PM To: Annexation Committee Subject: Annexation Committee Notes for Sept 9th Meeting at
Windermere office, Sept 9, 7:30pm
Present: David
Bangs, Joan Probala, Kevin Morgan, Julie Holmes, Gary Thede
Absent: Shirley
Lopez
Distribution Status:
The focus now is
on getting survey cards to the apartment and condo dwellers, as well as some
areas without HOA's.
Joan reports that
Walt Dorsey will distribute to Sammamish Hills condos, across the
freeway.
Joan went to
the apartments next to Sammamish Hills and gave them 110 annexation packets with
stamps 2 weeks ago. However, we have received zero returns from those
apartments. She will
check.
Joan has been
playing phone tag with management of Sammamish Bluffs condos. She will go deliver there in person - and guesses she will
need 60 packets.
Gary will deliver to 45 homes in Waterford Terrace, plus 5
homes on a street adjacent to SBC.
Joan thinks Walt
Dorsey volunteered to deliver to older neighborhood (two streets down to water)
east of Waterford Terrace. She will check, and
Gary is willing to do those neighborhoods if Walt isn't - but will need packets
for a about 30 homes there.
Joan will verify that apartments west of Timberlake
are not in the annexation area. She is 99.99% certain they
aren't.

areas from Lyle Whitcomb and
Karen May of the Klahanie "I Love Issaquah" group. She will also
make sure they are invited to attend - since they would be knowledgeable
resources. She will ask them if they have
any other useful materials to bring.

advertising the meeting and the need for people to get their survey cards
in.
He will post it
and email larger email group to get it distributed in each
neighborhood.
In the same email - he will
explain the need to either turn petition sheets into a committee person
or bring them directly to the October 8th meeting.
Kevin will print? and post the 36 posters on South Cove
mailboxes. (talk to David)
Joan will contact the Issaquah Press to get a meeting
announcement posted.
Gary will contact the Eastside Journal with same
purpose.
Format of
Meeting
Introduction: Joan. (Based on info on
One-Pager. Inspirational). She will
introduce the small committee members.
Details: David. (Based on info in Q & A.
Informative).
Panel for
Questions: Joan will moderate panel of knowledgeable
officials.
Kevin and Julie will man a table to collect survey
cards and encourage people to sign petition
sheets.
They will also have one pagers
available.
Informing the
City
Joan will deliver the survey cards and petitions to the
City of Issaquah on October 9th. We hope to have 400 or more survey cards - out of a
total of about 1100 households.
We will turn in all the petition signatures we can
get. There isn't a legal requirement for petition signatures. It is
simply another method of showing a level of support.
Joan has already been working with the City to convince
key people that they should combine the feasibility study of Klahanie annexation
with the feasibility study for our area into a single study. If that can
be done, annexation could be on the ballot in late 2003 or early
2004.
