South Lake Sammamish Association (SLSA) Quarterly Meeting Minutes The meeting was held at 7:00 pm at the home of David and Leigh Bangs AttendeesGary Thede – Chair & Sammamish Beach Club This meeting was themed as a “Future of SLSA Party” at David’s home. Deborah provided Chips and SLSA. David provided snacks and drinks, and the background music. At this most festive SLSA meeting yet, we talked about a lot of things. But these notes focus on the key issues and results. · David reported that we spent $171 this year, on expenses related to the annexation parade. We have $684.20 in the bank – so there is no need for HOAs to continue to solicit HOA contributions in 2007. · We mostly talked about the value of SLSA and how to make it work in the future. o We received a strong return of surveys (over 40). The general feel is that people love the email updates and want them to continue. People also appreciate that SLSA keeps us connected so we can respond to issues that might arise – similar to the roundabout or office zoning situations. o We decided to continue to meet quarterly, but in local homes for a more informal feel and greater convenience for attendees. o We decided to solicit issue owners. SLSA will only follow an issue if someone volunteers to be the issue owner. The issue owner will follow an issues on behalf of SLSA. Issue blurbs in the email updates will be submitted by the issue owners. o With issue owners, SLSA will be more “democratic”, and not rely too heavily on the newsletter editor. o As always, volunteering as a rep is an annual commitment. We love all our reps, and there are no term limits, but those who feel like they’ve done their part should let us know. · Neighborhoods need to be thinking about who will be their 2007 SLSA reps. For neighborhoods with HOAs, the HOA president should appoint a rep each calendar year (Just 3 or 4 meetings!). It really helps for the rep to be a board member. · The next meeting will be in February. HOAs should select 2007 reps by January, if possible. · We will elect new offices at the February meeting. David stated he is willing to run as chair. Beck Stenzel is willing to run as treasurer/secretary. Others are encouraged to run. Having a vice-chair would also be great. · Gary isn't going to represent Sammamish Beach Club, but did volunteer to attend meetings as the issue owner for bike and pedestrian access on W Lake Parkway. · { As of 1/10/2007: Joan Probala has since volunteered to host the February meeting. Melody Scherting has invited David Fujimoto, director of Issaquah’s resource conservation office (RCO), to present. Among other things, the RCO manages the waste contract with Allied/Rabanco and the recycling and yard waste + food waste collection programs. } Notes submitted by secretary David Bangs |
