Issaquah Parks and Natural Areas Bond: On this November Ballot, we will be asked to vote on the Issaquah Proposition 1: Parks and Natural Areas Bond. This information regarding the park bond has been submitted:
According to the voters guide, passing this measure will increase property taxes by up to 10.5 cents per $1000 of valuation, or $52.50 a year for a $500.000 house. However, this would be added on top of Issaquah Property tax rates, not the high King County tax rates that we will continue to pay through 2007 as part of the annexation transition. As of last year (See Property Tax Savings Details in this August 2005 SLSA Update) we were paying $12.36 per $1000 of valuation in unincorporated King County, compared with $10.18 per $1000 of valuation in the existing Issaquah limits. As part of the annexation transition process we are continuing to pay the high King County tax rates during 2006 and 2007. If we were already paying Issaquah lower property tax rates, the owner of a $500,000 home would be paying $1000 less per year in property taxes. If the park measure passes, it will erase $50 of the $1000 per year savings that will begin in 2008 as a result of our annexation to Issaquah. This is a 5% reduction in the expected property tax savings. Perhaps not a bad deal for such benefits to the area!
