Property Taxes would be 12.8% higher if we had not annexed to Issaquah

Some people have expressed the concern that the property tax savings promised with Annexation to Issaquah never materialized.
Actually, as of 2008, South Lake Sammamish residents are enjoying substantially lower propert tax rates that their counterparts still in unincorporated King County.

This can be shown by examaning the property tax rate breakdown for a home in South Cove, which was annexed to Issaquah in 2006, with one in Klahanie, whose bid to join Issaquah at the same time failed due to lack of voter support.

Prior to South Cove's annexation into Issaquah, the property tax rates in the two neighborhoods were identical.
Now, South Cove's overall property tax rate is $9.59 / per thousand dollars of valuation vs. $10.82 in Klahanie.

So, due to Annexation, the owner of a South Cove home assessed at $500,000 is saving $615 on property taxes due to annexation while receiving better services.

It is important to note that we now pay a couple of taxes we didn't used to pay:  A utility tax and a B&O tax charged to revenue of home based businesses.

and clicking Get Property Report, then clicking on the Levy Code.
